Now it is enough-Raise voice

8Th March is International women Day celebrated to give salute to the woman for her achievements and contribution in making the world beautiful to live in. The conditions of her have changed a lot as compared to past. She is now more independent and confident. She is now working equally with man in every field of life.

Still there are many issues which need attention and where their conditions are not very much improved. One such field is Domestic front. She is facing many problems here    which are a major issue.

WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: It means dominating one person by the other in an intimate relationship by ill-treating her or beating or considering her a servant only. This intimate relationship need not necessary be husband but there are many cases of abuse by father also.

TYPES: 1. Physical violence which means beating or slapping

2. Psychological which means using harsh wordings always

3. Sexual which means making physical relations against her wishes

4. Economic which means controlling how you spend even a penny or taking out your money.

REASONS:

1. Greed of Dowry: Many people treat their son as investment or FD to be matured at the time of marriage. When their desires are not fulfilled, it takes the place of domestic violence. Everyday, newspapers are filled with such incidents where girls are burnt for the sake of dowry. How cheap these people can be. They don’t even think that this can happen with their girls also.

2. Advertisement of Manhood: I have often heard people saying that if you want to control your wife, keep her under your feet. These men think it a matter of pride to scold the wife in front of their friends and relatives to show that he is not the Joker of her hands. They tend to ill treat her for every little thing like food not made according to the expectations, not showing full respect to his parents etc. “ I AM THE MAN, I CAN DO EVERYTHING”, “SHE IS MADE WOMAN TO BEAR ALL THIS”, “IT IS HER DUTY TO SERVE HIM IN EVERY POSSIBLE MANNER” are some of the thoughts.

3. Illiteracy: Even the woman is illiterate. She considers the man as her GOD. She is not ready to take revenge from him and accepted all this as her fate. This is very much common in villages.

4. Lust for sex: This also encourages man to sexually abuse a woman. A woman is raped many times against her wishes by her husband. The cases are also there when father also raped his own daughter. Means we can’t trust any relation.

Effects on the person:

1. Depression 2 .headache 3. Suicidal attempts 4. Pregnancy complications 5. Bones damage 6. Lack of trust on anyone 7. Less sleep 8. Bad relations with others such as office staff, house maids and neighbors 9. separation from friends …

It is her duty to keep everyone happy but what about her feelings? Can’t she think about herself? If she dares to go against them , she is called characterless or shameless. What is wrong if she wants to achieve something in life? Divorced lady is not seen with good status in society.

One out of every five women suffers this behind close doors. But this practice has to be ended. “BELL BAJAO (ring the bell)”is one such organization which aims at reducing such incidents. It is a movement to create awareness among the people to ring the bell of the house from which sounds of such incidents taking place are coming so that the person doing such crime feels some shame. This is very much powerful tool to reduce domestic violence.

But the most effective remedy is creating self confidence in a woman because no one can improve her conditions unless she her self do something to discourage it. So Girls, take a Vow not to bow your heads in front of these useless people. We are doing great jobs in taking care of house as well as working outside to earn money. No man can dare to do all these jobs at same time. Sometimes I think we as woman carry so many jobs at one time that a man can never do. So, recognize your strengths and tell the world that WE ARE THE BEST. Only then the meaning of celebrating woman’s day will be proved and every woman will feel proud in being what she is.
